Description

Designed to enable connection of front bumper mounted winch to the batteries in the under seat box of a classic Land Rover Defender.

Fits:
Classic Defender 90, 110, 130.
LHD and RHD models

This kit consists of:
1 x 3800mm Red Positive + lead 50×8 & 50×10 cable lug
1 x 500mm Red Positive + lead 50×10 & 50×10 cable lug
1 x 3800mm Black Earth – lead 50×8 & 50×10 cable lug

This winch wiring kit is made to go from your Defender seat box batteries via an isolator to the front winch.

The length of the cables in this kit are 3.8m long. It is made from 50mm square cable. We recommend using 50mm2 cable as a minimum with high performance single motor winches. As an example our Ox motor can draw up to 400amp on a very hard pull. Using smaller cable than 50mm2 will act as a resistor and the voltage at the motor will be less than at the batteries. Voltage drop will lead to a increase in the amps. This is not be good for any winch motor and can result in thermal damage.

Notes for fitting:
The short red lead goes from the battery to the winch isolator, we recommend using our Albright SU280-1066 – https://www.red-winches.com/product/winch-isolator-albright/?swcfpc=1

The long red lead goes from the isolator to the winch motor solenoid.

The negative lead is just as important as the positive lead. DO NOT earth a winch through the chassis. Instead we recommend running the negative lead from the earth point on the winch motor directly back to the negative terminal on the vehicle battery.
