Why Use a Thimble?
Without a thimble, the “eye” of your winch rope is susceptible to “point loading.” This can lead to internal heat build-up and premature failure of the synthetic strands. Our thimbles distribute the load evenly, significantly extending the lifespan of your Synthetic Winch Rope.
How to Choose the Right Thimble Size
To ensure a secure fit, the thimble size should match your rope’s diameter. A thimble that is too small will pinch the rope, while one that is too large may fall out when the line is slack.

10mm – 12mm Thimbles: The standard for most 4×4 recovery winches (Defender, Hilux, etc.).

Installation Tip: When splicing your rope, ensure the eye is pulled tight around the thimble groove to prevent movement. For maximum security in extreme conditions, we recommend our Tubular Thimbles.
