Starting at the Begining

This company is a design & manufacturing company providing B2B engineering services and products to the Automotive industries, MOD, Marine and many more and of course RED Winches.
Redstart has a large modern CNC machine shop, capable of manufacturing high-quality, precision parts. High-end Milling and Turning machines, gear cutting and more, all capable of small or large batch machining.
The manufacturing side of Redstart is mostly fed by the design side, from our engineering office.
The engineering & product designs are created from our seats of SolidWorks, a 3D design package. Our engineers are involved every week in solving customers' issues through our design abilities, which then leads to our precision manufacturing. Because Redstart can offer inclusive and comprehensive solutions, this has become an attractive service to customers. Being able to design what they need and then also manufacture the solutions.
Redstart Design and its design and manufacturing abilities are the core to all its projects and the stability and resources behind many well-known products.
RED Winches Ltd
A high-end product-based company that provides its products B2B and through retail sales, directly and through its worldwide distribution network.
Its products are in the off-road and recovery industries and are considered the best for their designs, reliability, and robustness. Selling into the Military sectors as well as the very demanding high-end off-road motorsport scene, all over the world. Our main range of products focuses on high-end electric and hydraulic winches, and the brand is now recognised worldwide in this field.
All of RED Winch's products are machined by Redstart Design.
Redstart & RED Winches share their values as companies and are both within the same buildings as each other.
2004 Redstart Formed
Redstart was formed by Neal Jones, in a self built office in his Garden to support companies supplying the automotive industry with designs, tooling and industrial marking solutions (Pin Stamp, Laser, Scribe). This is the background Neal Jones had come from after being PM and Designer for a previous company. Serving projects all over Europe and USA.
2005 Automotive International
Redstart Design Ltd was incorporated and began to deal directly with OEM Automotive customers such as FORD and JLR, and achieved its Tier 1 status with most of these companies in the UK and Europe. This increased sales and profit levels within the company. Designing and manufacturing the systems, and then installing them in the UK, Europe, Russia, Turkey and the USA with our own engineers. No Sales force, only engineers.
2008 Supacat Design
Redstart was approached by Supacat to design a hydraulic winch for their Jackal vehicle for the Special Forces variant. This was the start of our interest in winches… and recovery. 12 months of trials and testing, and we were awarded a large contract to replace all their winches on all their vehicles. Redstart continued to provide tooling and systems to the automotive industry, as well as starting to develop a range of hydraulic winches for the off-road motorsport scene.
2012 Hornet was Born
Redstart designed and developed an electric winch for the off-road market, the Hornet twin motor competition winch. The Hornet is still with us today, and sales are as strong as ever….
2014 RED Winches Ltd
RED Winches Ltd was formed, and the winch/recovery side split away from Redstart Design.
2014 RED Winches Ltd
Redstart Design continued to work with large OEM companies as a Tier 1 and developed its tooling reputation. RED Winches Ltd continued to develop and innovate its product range and expand its brand.
2023 Designing Firearms
Redstart is starting to work with a local company to design an AR-10 & AR-15 firearm. Units were designed, built, fired and have been submitted on several tenders….. we are expecting success in 2026 onwards with this product
2026 Vision
Having launched our King Cobra, the 4th in the Cobra range and the most impressive yet, we are looking forward to seeing the results come in.
We have also launched SV-R and will be designing and manufacturing more products in the range. We saw a need in the market to secure Land Rover Defenders as they are fast becoming the most stolen vehicle, with over 8K stolen a year.
